Becoming nomad part 2 – Making the money to live as a nomad
In part 1 of this series, becoming a nomad, there is a little quiz to help you to determine the motivations, the cities to visit next and what is needed for that. Everything in order to start taking action.
For many people the main resource needed to achieve that goal is financial. No news, people DO need money to travel.
We can save money that eventually will help us in the goal of becoming nomads but, let’s nomad in and find ways to not make it an exception, a one-time trip, but a real change that takes us to a new level of financial freedom.
It’s essential to know how much money is required for that next nomadic experience, as well as our budget but here, we’ll give tips to increase your capital in a way that can be maintained over time.
Tips for making the money to live as a nomad
1. You can always do better
Something that separates the person who is earning 60K to the one that is earning 100K sometimes is just that the last one tried it more. It’s hard to accept: working more does not necessarily give us more money, but it does in the case of finding a job.
Answer sincerely and without limiting yourself:
- Are there places offering more for the same tasks and qualifications I already got?
- Is there something I can improve in my business to earn more?
In 95% of the cases, both answers are yes!
It’s not easy to accept it but, you could be earning more by just taking that action, and sometimes it even leads you to work less hours in the long run.
Examples to earn more money
For an employee | For a business owner |
I can change to a place that pays more | I can try a new campaign to attract more clients |
I can work for a country or a city that pays more | I can improve this weakness that is making me loose clients or money |
I can improve my profile and highlight my value to ask for more | I can augment the business presence in social media |
I can learn a new skill that will make me more valuable as an employee | I can reduce unnecessary expenses |
2. Going online
It’s not about being an influencer. Social media is a way to show who you are (or show your business) and connect with people that are looking for that. Don’t close yourself to that opportunity.

For example: when looking for a restaurant many people go into Google Maps and start typing restaurants around. If your restaurant is not even there, that person couldn’t know.
It’s the same with professionals. A company looking for a high-skilled graphic designer may start searching in Google and if you’re not there or you profile is not optimized to attract employers, that opportunity will be missed.
Extra:
Think if you can charge someone for something you can do or can help with, something people usually recognize you for, where you stand out. If you could think of just one person, chances are there are tons more. Go and offer that product or service to the world.
3. Change professions
This subject is deeper and it often will require more time and less comfort than the previous options. There are many different reasons to choose a new careerpath.
The recommendation is always towards changing to something you really want, understand and/or goes along with your core values.
Starting from scratch many times leads to a more profitable career in the long run.
You’re the one who know best when it’s time for a change.
You can even do this without risk by starting in that new careerpath in parallel with your current main source of income, and when it generates enough income or you feel confident enough, you can make it your main source of income.
4. Your mindset – believe you can have money, you can be wealthy

Lastly, but not less important. To unlock your full potential you have to believe in your financial success, trust that you are capable of achieving that financial freedom. This may be easy or hard for you, but go gradually building that successful mindset. If you can’t even picture it, how will you make it come true? Every dream has been once dreamed.
It is much more enjoyable if you feel you do deserve it and have that reciprocate energy of giving more – receiving more.
